Senior Business Development Manager - Leadership position in Integrated Advertising Agency
My client have been growing now for over 10 years. In that time they have formed ongoing relationships with some of the world's largest brands - telcos, automotive, finance and FMCG - and have built a team of over 40 people.
The most amazing part is they have done this entirely through word of mouth and referrals!
No longer content to fly under the radar, they are looking to bring on a Senior Business Development Manager to bring them out on to centre stage. This role is equal parts "Hunter","Farmer" and Business Leader. Where the focus will be on landing new clients, bedding down the relationships and transitioning them into the agency.
This is a brand new position for the agency, and as such they are searching for someone with the intelligence, experience and influence to be able to shape this role for the maximum benefit of the agency.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assess the agencies position within market and make recommendations to agency management
- Develop a Sales and Marketing strategy; including updating the agency's marketing collateral and business development tools
- Research, identify and contact potential clients
- A focus on securing 3-4 large clients within the first 12 months and building solid, ongoing and profitable relationships (note: your focus will be on securing a smaller number of large deals as opposed to many smaller clients)
- Responding to Request for Proposals and leading client pitches. Also, playing an active role in any
- Transition new clients through to the client service team, ensuring that adequate resources are available to manage clients effectively
- Become an integral part of the agency's leadership. Working closely with the Managing Director and other business leaders on the ongoing business strategy, development and management.
Ideally, you will have come from a Client Service Director, GAD, Strategy Director or BDM position within an Integrated advertising agency, with a particular penchant for Business Development. To be considered for the role you will need to meet the following:
- Be a relationship builder not a flashy Salesman
- A leader of men (and women of course)
- Comfortable generating meetings and pitching to C-Level execs within bluechip companies
- Ideally have a book of contacts that you could readily call on
- Have at least 5 years experience selling in an agency environment (People who have come from a client side marketing background will be considered, however will need to display a comprehensive understanding of agency processes)
- Most importantly, you will need to mirror the Agency's values and culture - honesty, passion, intelligence, ego-free, social and driven.
Befitting of a leadership position an executive level salary package is on offer for the right candidate. The package is open to negotiation and it is expected that you will have some input into the KPIs and the associated commission structure. As a ball park, the base salary would be around $120,000 - $130,000 with an uncapped OTE of $200,000+
